Arion saved by a dolphin, ca. 1840 Fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English, and painted in gouache after the painter Ciro Ciro (1634-1689): riding a dolphin that he has seduced with his music, Arion escapes from the sailors who have robbed him and tried to kill him. Reverse, golden foliage underlined with red. Signature not very legible on the left, perhaps that of the Parisian fan maker Geslin? Rich white mother-of-pearl frame, cut, carved, engraved, silvered and gilded. In the center, Amphitrite on her chariot pulled by a dolphin, tritons and loves on the sides. The plumes decorated with Neptune and his trident. H.t. 28 cm-H.f. 13,5 cm (small wear)
