In 1897, Raoul Lamourdedieu entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the workshop of Alexandre Falguière. The work of the Bordeaux sculptor and medallist was initially influenced by the sculptural work of Auguste Rodin before becoming known for a more temperate style that marked the whole of his production, which could include our statuette.
