Art Nouveau] The Masters of the Poster Paris, Imprimerie Chaix, 1896 - 1897 - 1898 - 1899. Preface by Roger Marx. 4 volumes in-folio (the fifth volume corresponding to the year 1900 is missing). Art nouveau boards by Engel after the model of Paul Berthon. Set of 192 lithographs (+12 additional bonus plates offered to subscribers) printed in colour, after the most remarkable posters by Chéret, Toulouse-Lautrec, Mucha, Bonnard, Privat-Livemont, Schwabe, Steinlen, Pal, Ibels, Meunier, Grasset, Réalier-Dumas, etc. Very fine proofs on strong vellum, bearing the dry stamp of the publication (Lugt 1777c) Size of the volumes : 40 x 31 cm. Good condition, notwithstanding some foxing on the serpents or in the margins of a number of proofs, especially in the first volume. More abundant freckling is noted in the margins of the "primes" A few rare leaves are slightly frayed, with a few defects.
