Silk Ferahan carpet (Persia), end of the 19th century

Technical characteristics : Silk velvet on silk foundation.
A fuchsia field, hosts nine oblong ivory cartouches, poly-lobed, decorated with stylized vegetal trellises. They are placed in the middle of starry compositions, formed by corollas linked together by flowering stems. Two small counter borders, with staggered plant decoration, frame the main fuchsia border with a series of flowering vases and starry floral rosettes. The whole in a beautiful polychrome. Highlighting with chess pieces. Uncommon decoration and nice set. (Wear)
