Original KONYA carpet (Asia Minor), late 19th century
Dimensions : 149 x 88cm
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation.
An old gold field speckled with ruby dots, supports a polylobed ivory medallion, with a delicate vegetal decoration and its multicoloured floral pendants. Four turquoise spandrels with florets frame and enclose the field along its entire length. The main ivory border has small polychrome star medallions and is framed by two raspberry counter borders with two-coloured flower stems.
