KASHGAI carpet (Persia), late 19th century
Dimensions : 290 x 170cm
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation.
A saw-toothed navy field, covered with flowers, diamonds and birds, supports a staggered paving of multicoloured jagged diamonds, decorated with stylized vegetal crosses. Two burgundy borders with garlands frame the main ivory one with a suite of chamarré birds and polychrome blossoming corollas. (Restorations of maintenance)
