Coustumes of the duchy, and bailliage of Touraine, former jurisdictions & enclaves of iceluy. Paris, Jean Dallier, 1561. In-4, blue morocco, Du Seuil decoration, spine decorated, inner lace, gilt edges (Barth). Second edition of the reformed Coutume de Tours, after that of 1559. Beautifully printed in Roman type, embellished with a beautiful ornate letter L, repeated once, and bands decorated with interlacing and grotesques. A handwritten note dated September 1868 indicates that the book was bought in Tours and then bound by Barth, bookbinder of this city (around 1870): this note is in the hand of Count Louis Clément de Ris (1820-1882), art critic, curator of the Versailles museum and author of an interesting work on the "amateurs d'autrefois" (collectors and bibliophiles) Margins of some leaves a little short. Small hole removing letters from two words on folio R1. Minimal rubbing to the covers.
