Two locks called vertevelle - Vertevelle lock in chased and pierced iron from the 15th century. The vertical rectangular case has a beautiful frame of rhombus friezes in orbevoie set in a set of strong molded rods. Inside, the horizontal keyhole was surrounded by a bush of trefoil and leafy branches (missing). Under this decoration the bolt, surmounted by a knob chiselled with a fantastic animal's snout, slides between two grooved rods, the vertevelle chamfered (posterior). France, 15th century. Accidents and missing parts (fasteners), late transformations and repairs - Vertevelle lock in pierced and chiselled iron from the 15th century. The upside down T-shaped lock has a long lower part of simple sheet metal on which the bolt is held by two brackets stamped with patted crosses and sliding between two striated rods. The bolt is finished on one side by a scallop shell chiselled in slight relief and protruding from a crenellated base. In the middle of the bolt is a stemma-shaped pendant chiselled with a fantastic animal's head and stamped with small discs. Above, the horizontal reception is surrounded by lanceolate motifs and rosettes surrounded by two striated rods (accidents and missing parts). Enclosed mechanism. Embossed and chased wrought iron. Spain, late 15th or early 16th century.
