Pair of sphinges
After the model of Eugène GUILLAUME (1822 - 1905)
Imposing pair of statues in the image of sphinxes covered with a mantling and straddled by garlanded loves.
This model is close to the one created by Eugène Guillaume for the entrance of the Museum of the Legion of Honor or the one of the park of the castle of Vaux-Le-Vicomte.
They are also similar to the so-called "Marly" model, destroyed during the Revolution.
It is also inspired by the groups of Versailles, made by the sculptor Jacques SARRAZIN (1592-1660)
