Härting, Abraham Govaerts, Der Waldmaler, Wommelgem 2003, p. 148, cat. no. 125, ill. p. 138 (reversed image and the wrong catalogue entry) We are grateful to Ursula Härting for confirming the attribution of the present painting to Louis de Caullery (figures) and Abraham Govaerts (landscape). A written certificate (September 2020) is available. She writes: ‘The painting The Holy Family with music-making angels, which is known to me in the original, is a work by Louis de Caullery executed in collaboration with the landscape painter Abraham Govaerts. Both lived and worked in Antwerp, then an artistic bastion under the rule of Habsburg Spain, during the age of Rubens.’
