Bodhisattva
Nepal or Tibet, ca 13° 14° centuries
Gilt repoussé copper. H. 16 cm
Very beautiful fragment of a halo that once surrounded a deity. It most probably represents a bodhisattva seated at the heart of a blossoming lotus supported by a stem forming scrolls. With his right hand, he is making the gesture of safeguarding, abhaya-mudra, and his left hand once held an attribute, the absence of which prevents any precise identification.
