Woman's head
Gandhara stylistic area, ca. 7th-9th centuries
Terracotta. Height 31 cm
Important head with a delicate feminine expression. The wavy hair is held in place by a crown of flowers. A circular earring adorns the right ear.
The hairstyle is reminiscent of certain sculptures discovered in Udabhandapura, known today as Hund in present-day Pakistan, the probable summer capital of the Turk Shahi rulers, alternating with Kabul, from the seventh to the ninth century.
