Chiaroscuro biblical scene. Ca. 1550-1600 Drawing, pen and brown ink with yellow and brown wash, heightened with white, 27 x 43 cm, laid paper, unsigned (large tear at lower right corner, contours of female figure lower right cut out and reinforced on verso, sm. tear at lower left, tear at left edge, def. at upper corners, lead white heightenings oxidating). Stuck on cardboard sheet by upper corners. Chiaroscuro drawing depicting a young man with a turban conversing with women in a classical temple or palace. Outside, at the far left, a bearded man with a halo can be seen entering the building. Unidentified Biblical story. Most likely northern Netherlandish.
