SWISS RENAISSANCE TABLE, circa 1500
H. 75,5 CM, W. (CLOSED) 146 CM, W. (OPEN) 270 CM, D. 80 CM BEAUTIFUL STATE OF PRESERVATION The table we present is rare in more than one way, by the quality of the walnut wood used, with its fine honey-coloured grain and its remarkable construction. Beautiful X-shaped legs, each with a sinuous brace.
They are connected by four lower crosspieces forming a frame, which ensure cohesion and stability of the whole. In the centre, a box with panels decorated with arches underlined by crenellated friezes. The tray has a set of pulls and extensions at each end, which slide to double the length. Two drawers hidden in the belt complete the set.
Sober and elegant, this table is a beautiful testimony of the know-how of the craftsmen at the beginning of the 16th century.
