A "mazarin" desk in red tinted tortoiseshell veneer and brass inlaid "in part" with acrobats under canopies, birds, butterflies in frames of foliage, palmettes and scrolls. The top is inspired by Bérain. It opens with seven drawers and a front leaf, the flat console legs. It rests on a base composed of eight console feet joined by an X-shaped strut and finished with flattened balls. Partly from the Louis XIV period H:81 W: 116 D: 65 cm (restorations, repairs to the decoration) Draughtsman, painter, watercolourist, engraver, ornamentalist, Berain (1640-1711) studied with Charles Le Brun.
