First novel by Raymond Radiguet (1903-1923). Its insolent and provocative character caused a scandal and ensured the success of the book, which sold 40,000 copies upon its release. Veterans' associations violently denounced a book whose teenage hero sees in the war only four years of great holidays suitable for cuckolding a poilu.
Modest binding but strictly of the period, which is not common.
The endpapers are unusually decorated.
