Rochecouart, a giant meteorite crater in France. Superb shatter cone, from an old collection, showing the so-called percussion cones (also ponytail structure). These characteristic marks are the result of a mega meteorite impact (in the form of an asteroid) whose crater, now largely eroded, is located in the Limousin. More than 200 million years ago, an asteroid of several kilometers in diameter fell on our planet in this region. The shatter cones are the witnesses of this event which was a real local cataclysm
