First edition of this beautiful work (the only volume published, printed in 200 copies reserved for subscribers), the first illustrated work devoted to this region. Bruun-Neergaard (1776-1824) was a Danish traveller and art historian. After a trip to Switzerland, he looked for a landscape painter to accompany him to other regions and found T.-Charles Naudet (1778-1810), a former student of Hubert Robert. Naudet's illustration includes 48 AQUATINTE ENGRAVED PLATES BY DEBUCOURT, OF WHICH TWENTY ARE IN COLOUR OR IN TINT, LANDSCAPES AND MONUMENTS, from the lakes, Bergamo, Milan to Venice.
