BERTHOUD Ferdinand. Essay on clockmaking, in which this art is discussed in relation to civil use, astronomy and navigation. Second edition. Paris, J.G. Mérigot le jeune, 1786; 2 strong volumes in-4, bradel ivory vellum binding with flaps, gilt fillets on spine and red parts, entirely untrimmed. Edition accompanied by 38 engraved and rebound plates representing with great precision all kinds of mechanisms. Bound at the end of volume II an old manuscript illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings giving plans of clocks that can remain for a year without being wound. A good and solidly bound copy.
