A VERY FINE EARLY 20TH CENTURY IRISH SILVER MONTEITH BOWL, Dublin, 1912 by the maker James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler; a very nice simple design to this well-made piece of silver; the scalloped rim being the main decorative element, with a simple engraved barrel with an arrow through it; Monteith bowls were used for chilling glasses, the bowl would be filled with ice water, and the incised or scalloped edge made it possible to adjust the glassed, so that the cup would be cooled down in the cold water.
