Alchemy - LIMOJON de SAINT DIDIER. The Hermetic Triumph, or the Victorious Philosopher's Stone. A more complete and intelligible treatise on the Hermetic magisterium than has been published to date. Second edition revised, corrected and increased. Amsterdam, Desbordes, 1710. In-12 of [6] ff-[1] f. unfolded-[1] f.-153 pp. The last page is a modern copy. Tan calf, spine ribbed and decorated, red title page (contemporary binding). Folding frontispiece. Third edition. Some marginal wormholes. Ex-libris stamp of the library of Armand de Terwangne. "One reads at the end of the volume: the author's name is in Latin in this anagram: 'Dives sicut ardens', S*** (Limojon Sieur de Saint Didier)." Barbier. "La Biographie universelle (Michaud) says Limojon de St. Didier author of this work; this is a glaring error. Lenglet-Dufresnoy states that Limojon only collected these various treatises. Contains: The ancient war of the knights or Interview of the Stone of the philosophers with gold and mercury. - Interview of Eudoxie and Pyrophile on the ancient war of the knights. - Letter to the true disciples of Hermes containing the principal keys of the secret philosophy." Caillet. Compilation by Alexandre-Toussaint de Saint-Didier (1630-1689) of various alchemical treatises which he divided into three parts. Complete with the beautiful folding frontispiece plate, which is missing in most copies as recalled by E. Canseliet. Covers, spines and corners worn. (Caillet 6696; Barbier IV, 838.)
