ALBERT LE GRAND (Brother). The Admirable Secrets of Albert-Le-Grand, containing several treatises on the conception of women, the virtues of herbs, precious stones, and animals; augmented with a curious abridgment of physiognomy, and a preservative against the plague, malignant fevers, poisons, and infection of the air; drawn and translated from the author's old manuscripts, which had not yet been published, which will be seen more fully in the table, and which will have been added in this latest edition; divided into four books. Lyon [Avignon], chez les Héritiers de Beringos, à l'enseigne d'Agrippa [Offray aîné], 1791 [c. 1850]. In-16 of XX-203 pp. Half tan basane, spine ribbed and decorated, title page (contemporary binding). The illustration consists of 2 frontispieces, one of which is a coloured fold-out, and 6 woodcut figures, 3 of which are off-text (1 coloured fold-out and 1 coloured off-text) as well as a masonic vignette in-text. "Rare edition of this much sought-after book" according to Caillet. Some freckles. (Caillet 132; Dorbon 42).
