ATTACHED: TWO L. A. S. FROM ANATOLE FRANCE bound at the head (1 & 3 pp. in-8°, dated November 6 and 8, 1878), to his "Dear friend" [the publisher Alphonse Lemerre]. These letters explain that the author was forced to entrust the edition of his novel to Calmann Lévy, who will actually publish it the following year (1879) under the title Jocaste et le chat maigre.
