Rectangular polychrome porcelain plate, decorated with eighteen Luohan at the edge of a river of tumultuous waves and in a rocky landscape planted with large pine trees, a dragon in the upper right.
Presented in an old wooden frame and bearing the inscription A. VISSIERE in ink on the reverse.

Provenance: Estate of Mr. Arnold-Jacques-Antoine VISSIERE (1858-1930), sinologist and notably Consul General in Shanghai then Minister Plenipotentiary in China.
Resold following a crazy bid from a Chinese buyer.
