LA REUNION - A. ROUSSIN - PORTRAIT "The Swiss L'EVEILLE, Type YAMBANNE". 1869. Original lithograph by Antoine-Louis Roussin (Avignon 1819 La Réunion 1894). Proof on wove paper. Plate from the "Album de la Réunion". Margins. In April 1847, Roussin delivers the first lithographs of a collection called Souvenirs de l'île Bourbon, which became after 1848 Souvenirs de l'île de la Réunion. The drawings represent "the most picturesque sites, churches, establishments, the main monuments of this colony, studies of trees, flowers, fruits, birds, insects, types and physiognomies with historical portraits". It is an inventory without logical order carried out according to his inspiration. Between 1847 and 1850, every month, the subscribers received four plates, that is to say more than 140 lithographs in three years. 30 x 21,5 cm. Condition B (Rare small stains in the margins).
