Christian Dior Ruffled Cape Lot n° 34

The design is genius in its simplicity. Off the body it is a simple huge rectangle of fabric with a U shaped cutout down on half in the center. The ends of the U become the front panels and the more solid other half the panel that drapes down the back. Once on the body it seems to magically transform and become a proper evening cape. The ruffles that edge it all the way around frame the face and create volume and drama around the arms and all around the hem. There are no closures so the cut is open and generous and this will allow it to fit all sizes. It is hard to define it as a true shawl, a poncho or a cape but it is definitely fabulous.
