In-8, [2] f., 60 p., contemporary tan basane racine, smooth spine, red basane title-piece, gilt fleurons and roulettes, gilt roulette at the edges, yellow edges (3 corners rubbed, superf. scratches and small tear at the upper cover?; small angular halo in margin of the last plate).
First edition of this detailed description of the gardens of Chantilly, attributed to René-Louis de Girardin, disciple of Rousseau, lord of Ermenonville (1735-1808) or to his son Stanislas. It is illustrated with a folding engraved plan, and 20 copper-engraved and aquatinted plates by Jacques Mérigot, of which 4 are signed "?Hedouin del.". Second version of the title page mentioning the name of the engraver.
