One of the last editions of this treatise by the king's hydrographer Pierre Bouguer (1698-1758), revised by the abbé de La Caille. It does not appear in the catalogue of the BnF.
The illustration consists of 13 copper-engraved folding plates: instruments, figures and maps, including celestial maps of the two hemispheres, and a planisphere of wind directions and compass variations, printed in two tones.
