FRAGMENT OF A STATUARY GROUP Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th dynasty, 1580-1085 BC Limestone with traces of polychromy H_ 3 cm Provenance Former Kelekian collection Paris, private collection acquired from Me Boisgirard on 22 October 2001 under n°82 The face with fine features is characterized by beautiful almond-shaped eyes, the pupils painted in black. The partially damaged nose was straight and fine, the small and fleshy mouth sketches a slight smile. The low forehead is topped by a short black painted ball wig. At the back of the skull, there is a right hand suggesting the presence of another character. The positioning of the hand suggests that the figure was of greater size or arranged at a higher level than this head. This could be a family group. A NEW-KINGDOM PAINTED LIMESTONE FRAGMENT OF A GROUP,1580-1085 B.C. 11/5 in. High. The rounded face characterized by refined features with elongated almond eyes. The thin short nose is partially missing, the small lips show a slight smile. The short fronthead is surmounted by a large rounded short wig painted in black. At the back of the skull, presence of a right hand with arm, suggesting a family group basing on the position of the arm.
