SHAOUABTI Egypt, late 17th dynasty Carved and painted wood ; H_ 20,7 cm Provenance Former French collection of Madame M., doctor of archaeology and Egyptologist, 1970s Paris, private collection Figure standing in its mummiform sheath; the body painted white. The arms painted in red are crossed and hold hoes. The face painted in red is topped by a short short ball wig. The central part of the body is inscribed with a hieroglyphic column painted in black: "Words to be spoken by Osiris...". A LATE SECOND INTERMEDIATE PERIOD WOODEN PAINTED SHABTI, DYNASTY 17TH 6 in.
