Mazarin" shaped desk with eight legs. Decorated with brass inlay on a red tinted tortoise shell background. The top is decorated with dancers under a canopy in the center of a composition of foliage, tendrils and scrolls, insects and exotic birds in flight. It opens with three drawers on three rows separated by crosspieces in two boxes, on either side of a central drawer and a door. It rests on eight console feet joined by two X-shaped braces. Antique gilt bronze molding underlined by a frieze of flutes and tigettes. Attributed to Nicolas SAGEOT (1666-1731). A very similar desk, with similar inlaid decorations on the sides and on the middle door, is kept in the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
