2-seater sedan body Central engine, 8 cylinders in V Displacement 2,927 cm3 Power 255 hp Maximum speed 250 km/h Mileage 16,000 miles Serial number ZFFAA02A9A0033511(01), engine no. F106 B 040 00544 Heir to the Dino 206/246, the first mid-engined saloon cars marketed by Ferrari in 1968, the 308s ditched the 2-litre and 2.4-litre V6 for a 3-litre V8, hence the name 308 (3-litre 8-cylinder). Preceded by the 308 GT4, a 2+2 model bodied by Bertone - an infidelity that will remain unique - and still bearing the Dino trademark, the 308 GTB berlinetta that appeared at the Paris Motor Show in October 1975 was a true Ferrari. It proudly sports the cavallino, as well as elegant styling by Pininfarina this time, like all Ferraris since 1958. It is the worthy heir of the agile Dino 206 and 246 berlinettes with its strict two-seater. It is however directly derived from the Dino 308 GT4 from which it takes the chassis with a shortened wheelbase of 2.34 m (reduced by 21 cm) and the same 255 hp 3-liter V8 engine. The only notable difference is that the 308 GTB's V8 has a dry sump lubrication system, which is much more efficient on this sportier version. On the other hand, the American version will keep the wet sump lubrication of the 308 GT4 and will be distinguished by a 4 tailpipe exhaust system, while the other 308 GTBs only have one. Another new feature of the 308 GTB is its polyester body, with the exception of the aluminium bonnet. The very short design time dictated the choice of polyester, which did not require heavy investments and allowed to reduce the weight of the car by a few kilos. The carrozzeria Scaglietti in Modena, a subsidiary of Ferrari, is responsible for the construction of the shells. The 308 GTB's compact, low and slender design immediately appeals to all prancing horse enthusiasts. The 3.0-liter V8 develops 255 hp at 7,700 rpm and 30 mkg of torque at 5,000 rpm. The wheels are based on the 5-spoke design of the big Ferraris, Daytonas and 365 GT4 2+2s, but with a 14-inch diameter and fitted with Michelin XWX 205/70-14s. From 1977 onwards, the bodywork of the 308s is made of steel with aluminium doors. In September, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, a convertible version, the 308 GTS, appeared to fill the gap left three years earlier by the discontinuation of the 246 GTS. Pininfarina used the same principle of a removable roof that was stowed behind the seats. The rear quarter windows are replaced by metal blinds. The GTSs also differ from the GTBs in that they have wet sump lubrication (as in the American versions) and two ignition switches instead of one. In 1980, the 308 range received a Bosch K-Jetronic indirect injection and a Marelli Digiplex electronic ignition. Unfortunately, performance suffered, as the V8 of the 308 GTBi and GTSi produced 214 bhp at 6,600 rpm (205 bhp in the United States) for a torque of 24.8 mkg at 4,600 rpm. The cabin was slightly redesigned with a Nardi steering wheel, a new design for the upholstery and a different centre console. At the end of 1981, in 8 years, the production of the 308 (all models) will have exceeded the production of V12 produced in 38 years! In October 1982, the 3-litre V8 received four valves per cylinder and the name Quatrovalvolve and regained its 240 bhp at 7,000 rpm. The model would later evolve into the 328 GTB and GTS with a 3.2-liter V8 under a slightly redesigned dress. This 308 GTSi was sold in the United States where it was imma - trated in July 1980. It returned to Germany in the late 1990s and the previous owner redid the beautiful red leather upholstery and had the engine brought up to European standards with the speedometer reset (which remained graduated in miles). It shows approximately 16,000 miles (25,750 km). The car has been used sparingly, but has been started very regularly. Since its purchase in 2015, some maintenance has been done by GIPI Motor and Ferrari. The timing belt was replaced on April 4, 2016, less than 2,000 miles ago. The overall presentation of the car is superb. It has Belgian papers.
