2-door coupe body style Front engine, 8 cylinders in V Displacement 4,957 cm3 Power output 320 hp Maximum speed 260 km/h Mileage 178,086 km Serial number WPOZZZ92ZKS840343 The Porsche 928, unveiled in March 1977, was equipped with a V8 engine, a first for Porsche. It was front-mounted and liquid-cooled, but this was no longer a first, as the 924, unveiled the year before, already had a liquid-cooled front engine. Porsche was looking for a replacement for the 911 at the end of the race and above all to free itself from its overhanging engine, an architecture that was justified in the immediate post-war period, but which was absurd on a modern sports car. At the same time, the noisy and inefficient air-cooling system was eliminated. The two-volume hatchback bodywork of the 928, designed by Anatole Lapine, went against the grain of the taut lines of the time. It had that functional sobriety that makes Porsches timeless. Among its particularities, the integrated absorption bumpers, in the same colour as the bodywork. The 4.5 litre 234 hp V8 of the 928 was combined with a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission. In 1979, the 928 S appeared alongside the 928, presented at Frankfurt and equipped with a 4.6-liter engine of 300 hp, which was increased to 310 hp with LH-Jetronic injection in 1984. It received ABS in 1986, before giving way to the 928 S4 in 1987. The 4,957 cc dual overhead cam engine with its two 16-valve cylinder heads provided 320 hp and a top speed of 260 km/h. It took Porsche a long time to come up with something similar, and this modern classic is today one of the most exceptional models still affordable. This superb 928 S4 with matching numbers (serial number WPOZZ92ZKS840343, engine M28/42 n°81K05524, automatic gearbox A2816 n°2K00698), fully original, offers a beautiful presentation with an original paint in very good condition and good alignment of the windows. Of French origin, it is equipped with an automatic gearbox. Inside, the beige leather upholstery is in good condition and shows no tears or snags, as well as the headliner and carpets, protected by carpeting. The original luggage cover is present in the rear trunk. The engine and automatic transmission work perfectly and offer excellent driving sensations. The valve train was revised in 2016. The service booklet is perfectly up to date and the numerous invoices available indicate meticulous and regular maintenance by Porsche or brand specialists. The 16-inch aluminum wheels (8Jx16ET523) are original and fitted with Continental 225/50ER16 and 245/45ZR16 tires). The car is also equipped with an Alpine CD radio, a Porsche System alarm, engraved windows, a circuit breaker and anti-theft wheel nuts. The retractable headlights work perfectly. The most successful evolution of the 928, this beautiful French S4 with automatic gearbox, fully original, a true standard of grand touring in the 1980's, is an opportunity to be seized urgently, before the prices soar.
