Jean-Charles Blais, a figure of French painting in the 1980s, is close to the
Blais is close to the Figuration Libre movement, whose leading figures are Herve Di Rosa and Robert Combas, and whose influences are diverse: Art Brut, non-Western art, street art, popular art, comics... Blais favours unusual materials and works with discarded materials, newspapers, pieces of torn posters, on which he paints, as this collage shows. On the back, a label from the Galerie Yvon Lambert, attesting to a purchase from a prestigious gallery that has bet on the greatest artists of the 20th century: Sol LeWitt, Cy Twombly, Christo and Daniel Buren.
