NOTES:
A multi-talented artist, Dunoyer de Segonzac is equally at home in painting, engraving or illustration and can be understood as a realist artist in the wake of Courbet. His acute sense of uncompromising reality finds an ideal field of expression in the treatment of nudes, and moreover in erotic art.
Here he gives us illustrations for "Vits imaginaires", a collection of nine poems written by Claude Roger-Marx under the pseudonym Claudinet and published around 1928. This confidential work, limited to 250 prints, contained these two drypoints outside the text by Dunoyer de Segonzac. These two illustrations, even more exceptional than they appear, are in fact the only known erotic works by the artist.
