Volume One, Which contains a Preliminary Discourse on Trituration, an Answer to Mr. Silva, & Five Letters, on Revulsion, Bleeding, Mineral Kermes, & Diseases of the Eyes. Second Volume, Where we have joined at the end a Dissertation of the Author of this Treatise, on the Digestion of Alimens; & a Latin Thesis of the same, on the Production of Diseases by the Disturbance of Trituration. A Paris, Chez Guillaume Cavelier, 1730. 2 volumes in-12° 16,5 x 10 cm [8] xv, 619[1] pp. and lxiv, [8] 630 pp. Bound in full brown calf, spine ribbed, blond title and giblets, red edges (snagged at the head of the 2nd volume). A very good copy of this interesting work of gastro-enterology, first edition of 1712. Famous doctor in his time, he was physician of the nuns of Port-Royal (1688-1693), of the Condé family (1709-1723) and of the House of Vendôme. Philippe Hecquet was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Paris in 1712; his library, with 2600 volumes, formed the basis of the library of the Faculty of Medicine of Paris.
