The attack on the Moncada barracks took place on July 26, 1953 in Santiago de Cuba. It was carried out by a small group of revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, who triggered the Cuban revolution. The 26th of July movement was created in the summer of 1955 by Fidel Castro to regroup the survivors after the bloody failure of this attack.
