A stained beech 'Thebes' stool with upholstered seat
c.1900, unmarked, possibly a variant retailed by Liberty & Co
The seat frame with reeded edge having a concave upholstered seat, raised on four turned and shaped legs, united by turned stretchers 42.5cm high, seat 48.3 cm square
Condition report:
On one side the horizontal stretcher is broken at both ends and above it the side has lost one angled spindle, two others are broken at one end and the other two are pulled out at one end - and the legs that are connected to this are a bit loose. There is one other leg and a horizontal stretcher that is loose too. The are some chips and losses on the legs. There is a replaced section on the top of one corner. Overall there are old marks, indentations and general wear and age separation to joins. The upholstery is old, faded and worn.
