FÉNELON François de Salignac de La Mothe-. Les Aventures de Télémaque, Paris, de l'Imprimerie de Monsieur (Pierre-François Didot), 1785; 2 vol. in-folio, contemporary red morocco binding, gilt lace on covers, spines highly decorated with gilt designs, blue tabis lining and endpapers, inner lace and gilt edges. BEAUTIFUL EDITION with a frontispiece by Montulay, 72 vignettes and culs-de-lampe and 24 figures by Charles Monnet engraved by Jean-Baptiste Tilliard. A VERY GOOD COPY despite small brown spots on two boards. It is on wove paper. It comes from Léon Laurent-Pichat, director of the Revue de Paris, poet and politician, catalogue, 1927, n° 475. Friend of Victor Hugo, editor of the pre-original of Madame Bovary, he was prosecuted at the same time as Flaubert in 1857.
