Rare reissue of a book which, fighting superstition (Religion), had caused its author to be burned in a public place in Rome in 1600 by decision of the Roman Inquisition. The two vignettes, engraved on copperplate by F.A. Aveline, a Parisian artist, suggest that the book was printed in France. Small edition by the abbot of Vougny for amateurs who were looking for the untraceable edition of 1584.
