With a removable globe revealing the cornea, the iris, the lens, the optic nerve and resting on a turned and ribbed foot. Finely worked ivory, glass and red enamel reproducing blood vessels. Height : 6,5 cm. In its moulded ivory case with screwed cap (height: 7.5 cm). Southern Germany or Italy. 17th century. A comparable example, of Italian origin, preserved in the Science Museum in London, another of German origin: Bonhams - London "Cabinet de curiosité", sale of 2 November 2011, lot 175. Two glass eye prostheses in a porcelain box (height: 4 cm) are attached.
