Il Decameron di Messer Giovanni Boccacci cittadin fiorentino : di nuouo ristampato; ce riscontrato in Firenze con testi antichi, & alla sua vera lezione ridotto dal cavalier Lionardo Salviati. Florence: Stamperia de Giunti, 1582.
In-8: 15f, 585pp, 38f. Begins on folio A2 (title page and first folio missing). Beautiful printer's mark and numerous woodcut lettering in the text. Light staining on the first 15 leaves, scattered spotting more or less numerous in places.
Early stiff vellum, handwritten title on spine, red edges.
The end of the volume contains several remarks on the text, and notably the list of what differentiates it from the 1573 edition.
This edition, a famous milestone in the history of the Decameron, was prepared by the humanist Leonardo Salviati.
