Some leaves damaged at edges, traces and wormholes in margins (volume 2 and 5), stains on some leaves. Defects. Contemporary marbled fawn basane, spine ribbed and decorated, red title-pieces, some tomaisons missing, headpieces faded or torn off, small pieces of leather missing, some boards missing, also missing on some cuts. Bindings quite solid however. Covers with the mentioned defects. Sold as is. First edition of this very beautiful book entirely mounted on tabs. This military history of Flanders made the reputation of its author.
