BARTHÉLÉMY (Jean-Jacques) abbot
Voyage of the young Anacharsis in Greece in the middle of the IVth century before the vulgar era. Paris, De Bure, 1790.
7 volumes in-8 (scattered freckles in places) and an atlas in-4 of XLII pages and 31 maps, plans and double-page plates.
½ calf of the time with small corners, spines smoothly decorated, a small accident to a cap.
Third edition of this famous work written by Abbé Barthélemy, which narrates the peregrinations of the young hero through Greece in the 4th century BC. The subject is a pretext for a meticulous and very erudite description of Greece on the eve of the assassination of Philip of Macedon in 336 BC.
