Good margins. 17th century glazed fawn calf, spine ribbed and reinforced with modern velvet (hand repair), gilt fillet framing the boards, central gilt medallion, corners and edges dulled, first endpaper posterior. Old handwritten bookplate to be identified. Edited by the Bohemian scholar Sigismundus Gelenius, and based on the Aldine princeps edition. The 9 comedies of Aristophanes, with ancient and very useful commentaries, plus 2 without commentaries. An abundant index of everything worthy of attention (Pluto, clouds, frogs, horsemen, skirts, birds, peace, the assembly of women).
