Ntadi" maternity statue from the Matadi region, it represents a woman sitting cross-legged and carrying her child lying on her legs. This figure of a mother with a child reminds us of the primordial role played by women in a lmatrilineal society.
The Mintadi (guardians) or Ntadi in the singular are sculptures used to decorate and protect the graves of the notables of the Kongo kingdom.
