HISTORICAL
The hermaic pillars, very common in the Greek world, are sheaths surmounted by a head of the god Hermes.
The model used here is the Hermes of Boethos, discovered in 1907 during archaeological excavations, and preserved in the Bardo Museum in Tunis.
