YEARS 80 Spectacular console, wrought iron structure with bronze patina, punctuated by four hermaphrodite pillars in terracotta. Black breccia marble top in three parts (restorations, pierced at three points). A large console, bronze patina wrought-iron underframe, terracotta figures, black marble top (Restored, drilled). H 86,5 x W 290 x D 70 CM - H 34 x W 114 1/8 x D 27 1/2 IN. PROVENANCE Hôtel Ellington, Nice HISTORICAL The hermaic pillars, very common in the Greek world, are sheaths surmounted by a head of the god Hermes. The model used here is the Hermes of Boethos, discovered in 1907 during archaeological excavations, and preserved in the Bardo Museum in Tunis.
