South Germany, late 16th century
Allegorical figure (saint or Virgin)
Statuette in carved wood.
Height : 52 cm.
(hollowed out inside, accidents, restorations and missing parts, modified forearms)
Of great finesse of execution, this religious figure of exacerbated mannerism must have contained either the Child Jesus, or an iconographic element allowing to identify him more precisely as indicated by the position of the arms (one of which shows a restoration).
