Senator of the Rhône from 1909 to 1920, he was also a manufacturer of agricultural machinery. He was the author of works on wine and vines, including the 7-volume Ampélographie Viala et Vermorel, published between 1901 and 1910. He was also president of the Comice Agricole et Viticole du Beaujolais and director of the Villefranche Viticultural Station. We owe him the invention of the "Eclair" manual backpack sprayer which bears his name and which has become part of everyday language. Made entirely of copper, it is used to spray Bordeaux mixture against mildew. Victor Vermorel founded the Vermorel company, which specialised in metallurgy, in Villefranche-sur-Saône. In 1893, he created his company for the manufacture of agricultural machinery. Provenance: Gabriel Gastine then transmitted by descent.
