On the high seas the Roman god of the sea in strongly animated gesture, dressed in red fluttering cloth around his waist, and holding a large trident in his left hand. He stands on a prora drawn by two hippocamps, whose reins two putti flying in the sky can with difficulty hold. Neptune is accompanied by a large retinue, including Nereids, and two dolphins. Figure-rich representation in the yellowish-blue sky-light of the setting sun. Rest. (1262001) (3) (18)
